Oil on timber panel in oak frame
Height 32 cm x Width 24 cm
Artist information
I was recently driving through country Victoria on my way to a short respite holiday. I suddenly came upon this family of geese crossing the highway. I pulled up on the side of the road to observe them closely. The geese were crossing the road aimlessly. I could not see where they came from and they did not seem to know where they were going. There is a bewildered look on their faces. This work captures a lot of the emotions I experienced throughout my childhood when my family and I left Sri Lanka in the 1983 civil war. We were displaced from one country to the next. There was always a sense of uncertainty as we were searching for our new home and a sense of stability.
