Nūl is a collective working towards building sustainably woven Sri Lankan communities.
OUR PURPOSE
Nūl means thread in both Tamil and Sinhala. A thread that connects humanity across difference and division.
We are a place-based community building initiative grounded in Sri Lanka, weaving together local communities, diaspora and global allies to build sustainable futures through education, economic opportunity and equity.
We acknowledge historical inequalities and work to address their root causes. Our work is grounded in local knowledge, culture and lived experience.
Our initiatives are developed together with community, culturally grounded and designed to support long-term transformation. We believe lasting change emerges from within communities. Not imposed from outside. Not rushed. Built together, with care, over time.

What are we building?
The Nūl Hub
COMMUNITY
A planned 50-acre community hub in Sri Lanka's North and Eastern Provinces, integrating regenerative cultural tourism with education, economic and equity-based development. Designed as a community-led space for connection, learning and livelihoods, with a goal of becoming 100% self-sustaining by year three.
We have now secured 4-acres in Kayts to begin our proof of concept. This will be our first site of operations.
Peace Ride
BUILDING TOGETHER
An annual 1,000km+ journey across Sri Lanka: 12 days of cycling, 10 days of immersive community engagement. Riders connect with 20+ communities through workshops and shared experiences, building trust and supporting community-led initiatives, while raising funds for Nūl's work.

EXHIBITION
Bringing together artists and community members from Sri Lanka and the diaspora through art, literature, music, performance, installation and dialogue, reflecting on identity shaped by memory, fracture and becoming.
Presented in collaboration with Off the Kerb Gallery and Ondru. Exhibition: 19-28 June 2026

GROWING NETWORK
Reconnecting Sri Lankan diaspora communities and allies to support community-led work in Sri Lanka. We build awareness, create pathways for participation, and grow a circle of support that reaches communities on the ground.
Currently piloting in Berlin, Germany and Bern, Switzerland, with expansion to 8 other countries underway.
