This artwork reflects the experiences of Tamils who were part of the struggle, highlighting their loss of identity. Although born in their own homeland, they are now forced to live without rights and recognition. Their lands remain unreleased and continue to be under military control.
The palmyra tree stands as a significant symbol in this work. While it is deeply connected to our life, memory, and identity, here it appears in a cut and fragmented form — representing severed roots and the wounds of the community. Orphans of Their Own Land becomes a voice for denied rights, fractured identities, and silenced histories.
