Amalaitharan Sivagnam

God’s Gift, 2026

Charcoal and pastels on canvas

Height 60 cm x Width 70 cm

Artist information

This painting depicts the helplessness of people during war, even as it rages around them. While humans confront the chaos with faith and prayer, natural resources too suffer under the impact of destruction. Human bodies and the environment alike are shattered in the cycles of conflict; though life and nature eventually strive to regenerate, the scars intensify the shadows on human existence.

Through broken human forms, fragmented bodies, and delicate shadows, the work reflects the reality that even faith may fail to provide protection. Each shape and layered hue conveys the silent force of war, emotional distress, the devastation of nature, and the suffering of humanity.
