Artist information
Even though the war has ended, its traces continue to exist today — both within society and within myself — as enduring marks of identity. These traces form a central aspect of my artwork.
To express this, I represent my self-portrait through multiple linear forms; in doing so, I reflect how my identity was altered, and how, during the war, lands, homes, and the civic identities of Tamil people were lost, leaving communities in unstable and uncertain circumstances. The experience of losing one's land and identity continues to exist as memory today, and through my artwork, I give form to these lingering recollections.
